Our first look at Cedar Key Florida.

JBO TV will be doing a lot of work over the summer in Florida, currently finishing editing our anniversary specials and beginning to film for our 2015 season. I also am here writing the second edition of HOOKED and working on the screenplay. Donna and I also have various columns we are writing to be published later in August. Other big news soon to come out of our summer adventures.

Cedar Key was totally Donna's idea. She had researched this place over two years ago and she had thought about even moving here. I have done a lot of filming in Florida over the years so a trip anywhere in the state always makes it a bit easier to film our southern Florida fishing and boating stories. I have never been to this location so I was all up for it and what a treat!! This place is REALLY authentic, probably a lot like the Florida Keys in the early days.

Today was the first day I could really get out and check out some sights. I jumped on my go green bike and toured the Island and what a hoot it was. Below are some pics of just biking around for a couple hours.

The first pic is something that is really cool. I ask the local ranger if that was a storm cloud approaching and he said now. They call it a “Sundog”. When the circumstances are just right the sun reflects against the clouds and turns them a brilliant orange color, and this was in the middle of the day. I used a polarizing lens on the camera which really helped to see the effect.

Below are some other pics of my first trip to Cedar Key peddling along the Gulf Coast.

One of the coolest bike trail ever!!

Way cool! Biking along the Gulf.

On Location: OBX!!

ON LOCATION: Jim Baugh Outdoors TV is close to wrapping up its 25th anniversary features with a BIG visit to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This is the land of top shelf recreational outdoor activities! All the best in fishing, boating, biking, cooking, surfing, kiting, arts and crafts, museums, heck just anything beachy! JBO TV will be filming the entire length of the Outer Banks and will be highlighting many of the new attractions. The finished program will included our best offshore fishing segments filmed of the last 25 years. We are very much looking forward to highlighting OBX and hope that everyone will make plans now, if you have not already, to head to OBX for some R & R. As good as the summer is, a lot of time for me has been spent during the fall and winter. Both surf fishing and fishing for King Mac’s has always been among our favorite things to do in OBX. That and the brewery. We got to feed the crew ya know. See yall in OBX! NOTE: After the program broadcast we will post the edited show with no commercials on You Tube and it will stream all year.

On Location Update: Smith Mountain Lake and Franklin County

Smith Mountain Lake

WOW!!! There are so many new things to see and do in the greater Smith Mountain Lake area. Most of my time at Smith Mountain was about 15 to 20 years ago when Jim Baugh Outdoors was producing a fair amount of inland striped bass features. My kids spent a lot of time at the lake and we found it was also one of the best lakes for crappie fishing anywhere.

JBO TV was filming in the area as a part of our 25th anniversary series to air later this spring. First up there was a big Oakley Bass tourney being held out of Bridgewater and boy did these anglers catch some Bass! Great event and turn out. There was also a festival being held at the New Moneta that had some darn good BBQ, some of the best!

Things have certainly changed over the years. The old campers paradise which was sort of an old fisherman’s hangout where you could go for a breakfast platter, buy oil for your boat, and also get a bucket of minnows to your liking. Now the place has been totally overhauled, or almost rebuilt as the new “Jakes”. One fantastic restaurant and bar complete with scenic outside Caribbean patio dining. The place is truly gorgeous, very well done and we can't wait for a return visit.

On the cooking front we had the pleasure of working with the Landing Restaurant and interviewed owner chef “Bruno”. This chef is both artist and craftsman when it comes to cuisine. All homemade recipes with a strong flair for the original and delightful. This has become a very popular restaurant and has a beautiful view of the lake.

Other stops during our filming included the home of Booker T Washington which will be featured in Jim Baugh Outdoors “Lure of the Shore” with Donna Bozza. Moving southward we filmed some art stores in Rocky Mount as well as Ferrum College.

We based our trip out of Bernards Landing where we enjoyed bucolic views of the Lake. This is also an amenity rich place complete with workout room, sauna, steam, indoor and outdoor swimming pool and hot tubs. The Landing Restaurant is also on the premises. Now is a good time to book your summer vacation at Bernards Landing, the place is awesome. We will be back!

Bernards Landing
Once the show is finished post production, we will broadcast the show and also stream it online 24/7. This feature will be broadcast along with our feature on Talbot County Maryland. We are filming there later this month.

Stay tuned!!!
